Peter Leisure is a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. He joined the court in 1984 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan.
Early life and education
Lasker graduated from Yale with his Bachelor's degree in 1952 and later graduated from Virginia Law with Bachelor of Laws degree in 1958[1]
Military service
Leisure also served as a U.S. Army Lieutenant in Artillery from 1953 to 1955. [1]
Professional career
Lesuire began his legal career as a private practice attorney in New York City from 1958 to 1961 and later became an Assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York from 1962 to 1966 before becoming resuming private practice from from 1966 to 1984.[1]
Judicial career
Southern District of New York
On the recommendation of U.S. Senator Al D'Amato, Leisure was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on May 25, 1984 to a seat vacated by Milton Pollack. Leisure was confirmed by the Senate on June 15, 1984 on a senate vote and received commission on June 15, 1984. Keenan later assumed senior status on March 21, 1997.[1]

Hip-hop DJ lawsuit
Judge Lesuire tossed out a lawsuit filed against a former radio disc jockey who was previously employed by Clear Channel Communications.[2] Troi Torain, who his on air name is DJ Star, sued his former employer on claims that he was wrongfully terminated over remarks he said off the air in regards to a competing disc jockey on another station. In dismissing the case, the judge found no evidence that Clear Channel violated Torian's contract when terminating his employment.[2]
