Philip S. Gutierrez is a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Central District of California. He joined the court in 2007 after being nominated by President George W. Bush.
Early Life and Education
Born in Los Angeles, California, Gutierrez graduated from Notre Dame with his Bachelor's Degree in 1981 and later from the UCLA Law with his Juris Doctor degree in 1984.[1]
Legal Career
Gutierrez was a private practice attorney in California from 1986 to 1997 before becoming a Superior Court Judge in the Los Angeles County Superior Court from 1997 to 2007. [1]
Federal Judicial Career
Gutierrez was nominated to the United States District Court for the Central District of California by President George W. Bush January 9, 2007, to a seat vacated by Terry Hatter, Jr. as Hatter assumed senior status. Gutierrez was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on January 30, 2007 on a Senate vote and received commission on February 16, 2007. [2]
