Ralph Gants

Ralph D. Gants is a justice on the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. Gants was appointed by Governor Deval Patrick to replace retired Justice John Greaney. He gave his oath on January 29, 2009. His term ends in 2024, when he reaches the age of mandatory retirement (70).[1]
Biography
Justice Gants received his B.A. degree in from Harvard College in 1976 and his J.D. degree from Harvard Law School in 1980. He also earned a diploma in Criminology from Cambridge University in 1977.[2]
Legal career
Justice Gants began his career as a law clerk to U.S. District Court Judge Eugene H. Nickerson. He worked as a Special Assistant to the Director of the F.B.I. from 1981 to 1983. He then worked as an Assistant U.S. Attorney until 1991, when he entered the private practice. He was a partner in the firm of Palmer and Dodge, L.L.P. until he was appointed to the Superior Court in 1997. He joined the Supreme Judicial Court in 2009.[1][2]
