Richard Dennis Aldrich is a judge on the Second District, Division Three of the California Courts of Appeal. He was appointed by then-Governor Wilson, taking his oath of office on August 29, 1994. He was retained by voters in the November 7, 2006 and January 1, 2007 elections.[1]

Biography

Judge Aldrich graduated from Loyola University of Los Angeles. He went on to receive his JD from UCLA in 1963. He has also served as an educator, lecturing in various countries.[2][3]

Legal career

Judge Aldrich worked as the head of his own law firm for 28 years. He was appointed to the Ventura County Superior Court in 1991 by then-Governor Deukmejian. He has received numerous awards, including "Outstanding Jurist of the Year" by the Ventura County Bar Association. In 1994, he was the chair of the Select Committee on Trial Court Coordination Implementation and in 1997, he was the chair of the Complex Litigation Task Force. He was appointed to the Judicial Council of California in 1998, where he has served on multiple committees. He also teaches at the B.E. Witkin California Judicial College.[2][3]
