Richard Bosson is a justice of the New Mexico Supreme Court. Judge Bosson was elected to the court on November 5, 2002. His current term ends December 31, 2020.[1]

Education

Bosson received his Bachelor's degree from Wesleyan University in 1966 and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1969. He also has a Master of Laws in Judicial Process from the Virginia School of Law.[2]

Career

After graduating from law school, Bosson spent four years with the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund. After that, he spent a year in Colombia on a Teaching Fellowship at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogota. Next, Bosson joined the New Mexico Attorney General's Office in the Consumer Protection Division. From 1981-1994, he worked in private practice. While employed in the private sector, Bosson also served as the New Mexico Commissioner of Banking and as Bond Counsel for New Mexico and the city Santa Fe. In 1994, he was appointed to the New Mexico Court of Appeals by Governor Bruce King. He served in this capacity until his election to the New Mexico Supreme Court in 2002.[3]
