Richard Holme

Richard Holme is a laywer member of the Colorado Supreme Court Nominating Commission an organization charged in selecting supreme court justices and reviewing judicial performance in supreme court justices in the State of Colorado. Holme represents the First Congressional District encompassing the Denver Metropolitan Region.

Background

Holme is an attorney for the Denver based law firm of Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP. Holme is a nationally recognized attorney specializing in eminent domain, intellectual property, civil litigation, media and the First Amendment, outdoor advertising claims, and toxic tort liablity.

His varied commercial litigation practice has included defense of a breach of fiduciary duty claim challenging one of the largest land sales in Colorado history; a commodities fraud caseinvolving hundreds of investors and claims for almost one hundred million dollars in losses; class actions for widespread environmental contamination; and arbitrations involving complex patent claims and employment claims involving damages of eight fi gures. He has also litigated and tried major contract actions, employment and discrimination issues, condemnation suits, and patent, intellectual property, trade secrets, product liability, securities fraud and natural resources cases. He has handled a number of major constitutional cases, including successful challenges to prohibitory billboard laws in Colorado and Maine, raising issues of free speech and takings without compensation; land use planning and zoning challenges; the validity of lobbying regulations; and a wide range of First Amendment issues in connection with the firrm’s regular representation of Denver’s NBC television affiliate and other media clients. Holme has briefed and argued numerous appellate court matters around the country[1].


Holme was appointed by the Colorado Supreme Court to serve two terms as a member of its Grievance Committee from 1979 to 1985. From 1969 to 1971, Holme also served a stint as a Assistant District Attorney in Denver [2].

Supreme Court Nominating Commission

In 2007, Holme was selected by the Colorado State Bar Association to serve a five year term expiring in 2013 on the Supreme Court Nominating Commission. He is unaffliated with any political party[3].

Personal

Holme recieved his Bachelors Degree from Williams College in Williamstown, Pennsylvania in 1963. Holme recieved his juris doctorate degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 1966.
