Richard M. Mosk is a judge on the Second District, Division Five of the California Courts of Appeal. He was appointed to this position by then-Governor Davis and took his oath of office on October 22, 2001. He was retained by voters in the November 5, 2002 and the January 8, 2007 elections.[1]

Biography

Richard Mosk was born in 1939 in Los Angeles. He graduated from Stanford in 1960 and received his law degree from Harvard in 1963. He also was enlisted in the California Air National Guard and the U.S. Naval Reserve.[2][3][4]

Legal career

Mosk was a member of staff of the Warren Commission in 1964 and a law clerk for California Supreme Court Justice Mathew Tobriner in 1964 and 1965. He then worked in the L.A. law firm Mitchell, Silberberg & Knupp from 1965 to 1987. During a leave of absence from this firm, he worked as a Special Deputy Federal Public Defender (1975-76). After this, he moved to the firm Sanders, Barnet, Goldman, Simons & Mosk, P.C., where he worked until 2000. He has served as a judge on the Iran-U.S. Claims Tribunal.[2][3][5].
