On January 23, 2012 President Barack Obama nominated Bacharach to serve on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit to fill the seat vacated by Robert Henry.[3] Obama commented on the nomination, stating, "I am proud to nominate these outstanding candidates to serve on the United States Court of Appeals. I am confident Judge Robert E. Bacharach and William J. Kayatta will serve the American people with integrity and distinction."[4]
He was rated Unanimously Well Qualified by the American Bar Association. He had a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee on May 9, 2012, and you can find his Committee Questionnaire Available Here and his Questions for the Record Available Here.[5]
Bacharach's nomination was returned to the president on January 3, 2013. The nomination was resubmitted on January 4, 2013. [6]
On February 25, 2013, the United States Senate confirmed Robert Bacharach to an Article III post for the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit with vote of 93-0.[7][8]
Early life and education
Judge Bacharach received his bachelor's degree in history from the University of Oklahoma. He went on to earn a law degree from Washington University at St. Louis in 1985.[9]
Professional career
Judge Bacharach began his career in 1985 as a law clerk to Judge William Holloway of the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals. In 1987, he joined the Oklahoma City law firm Crowe & Dunlevy, where he was named a shareholder and director in 1995. He worked in this capacity until his judicial appointment in 1999.[9]
