Robert J. Bryan is a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington. He joined the court in 1986 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan.[1]
Early life and education
A native of Washington State, Bryan graduated from the University of Washington with his Bachelor's degree in 1956 and juris doctorate degree in 1958. Bryan also served in the US Army Reserve from 1955 to 1957.[1]
Professional career
Bryan served as a private practice attorney licensed in the State of Washington from 1959 to 1967 and 1984 to 1986. From 1967 to 1984, Bryan served as a Superior Court Judge in the Washington Superior Court of Washington and also served as a Judge pro tem in the Washington Court of Appeals in 1975 and in the Washington State Supreme Court in 1979 and 1982.[1]

Western District of Washington
Bryan was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on February 3, 1986 to a new seat created by 98 Stat. 333 which was approved by Congress. Bryan was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on April 24, 1986 on a senate vote and received commission on May 7, 1986. Bryan later assumed senior status on November 1, 2000.[1] Bryan was succeeded in this position by Ronald Leighton.
