Robert H. Edmunds, Jr. (b. 1949) is an Associate Justice on the North Carolina Supreme Court. He was first elected to this position in November 2000, and was sworn in during January 2001. In November of 2008, he ran for re-election against Suzanne Reynolds. Edmunds won the race.[1] His current term ends in 2016.

Legal education

Judge Robert Edmunds was on the Dean's List from 1967-1969 at Williams College, and graduated from Vassar College in 1971. He attended the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hills School of Law and earned a Juris Doctor in 1975. He was Associate Justice in the Holderness Moot Court Bench in 1975 and earned a Master of Laws in Judicial Process from the University of Virginia in 2004.[2]

Legal experience

Edmunds was first elected to the office of Associate Justice in November 2000. From 1986-1993, he was the United States Attorney for the United States District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina. Edmunds served as an ensign in the U.S. Navy from 1975-1977.

2008 election results

Edmunds, running as an incumbent for the North Carolina Supreme Court won with 51.04% against Suzanne Reynolds.[3]
