Robert M. Levy is a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He was appointed to this position in 1995.[1]
Education
Judge Levy received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College and his law degree from the New York University Law School.[1]
Career
Judge Levy began his career as a staff attorney with the Juvenile Rights Division of the Legal Aid Society. After a short time, he joined the New York Civil Liberties Union, where he became the Director of the Mental Health Law Project and a Senior Staff Attorney. At the time of his appointment to the U.S. District Court in 1995, he was working as General Counsel to New York Lawyers for the Public Interest. He is also an adjunct professor at Columbia, New York University and the Brooklyn Law Schools.[1]
