Robert Mahan

Robert Mahan is a judge on the Iowa Court of Appeals. He was appointed to this position in 1997.[1] Judge Mahan has announced that he will retire from the court on July 31, 2009.

"It has been my absolute pleasure to serve as a judge in the State of Iowa. I will miss the daily contact with colleagues but intend to serve as a senior judge on the Iowa Court of Appeals following retirement. I sincerely hope that I can keep contributing to our wonderful court system for many years," he said. [2]

Biography

Judge Mahan was born in Carroll, Iowa. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1969. He went on to earn his law degree from the University of Iowa in 1973. He is currently married and has four daughters.[1]

Legal career

Judge Mahan began his legal career in 1973, practicing with two law firms in Waterloo. He later became a prosecutor in the Black Hawk County attorney's office. In 1978, he was appointed a district associate judge. He was elevated to district judge in 1986 and he held this position until his appointment to the Court of Appeals in 1997.[1]
