Robert Maloney is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. He joined the court in 1985 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan. Maloney is a judge serving on senior status.[1]
Early life and education
Maloney graduated from Southern Methodist (SMU) with his Bachelor's in Business Administration degree in 1956 and later graduated from Southern Methodist Law with his Juris Doctor degree in 1960[1].
Professional career
Maloney began his legal career as a Assistant district attorney for Dallas County from 1961 to 1962 before being a private practice attorney licensed in Texas from 1962 to 1984. Also, Maloney served as a State Representative in the Texas House of Representatives being elected in 1972 and was re-elected in 1974, 1976, 1978, 1980, and 1982 before being named Associate justice of the Fifth Circuit Texas Court of Appeals from 1983 to 1985[1].
Judicial career
Northern District of Texas
On the recommendation of Texas U.S. Senator Phil Gramm, Fish was appointed by President Ronald Reagan on July 23, 1985 to a new seat created by 98 Stat. 333 which was approved by Congress. Maloney was confirmed by the Senate on October 16, 1985, and received commission on October 17, 1985. Maloney later assumed senior status on August 31, 2000[1].
