Robles must be elected to the seat he was initially appointed to if he wishes to remain on the court. On February 9, 2010 he filed his Declaration of Candidacy for the election.

Said Robles: "I believe I have served New Mexico well on the state Court of Appeals during the past 14 months – contributing to the court’s strong level of collegiality and stability.

With more than 16 years experience as an attorney and more than 17 years experience as a district court judge, I am very familiar with criminal, civil, commercial, domestic relations and juvenile law. I bring a strong work ethic and a passion for justice and public service to the court, and I hope to continue my service as a New Mexico Court of Appeals judge." [2]
