Robert Trimble was a federal judge on the Supreme Court of the United States. He joined the court in 1826 after an appointment from James Madison. At the time of appointment, he served on the United States District Court for the District of Kentucky. He joined the district court in 1817 after an appointment from Madison as well. He served the Supreme Court until his death on August 25, 1828.[1]

Judicial career

Supreme Court

Justice Trimble was nominated to the Supreme Court by President John Quincy Adams on April 11, 1826 to a seat vacated by Thomas Todd. He was confirmed by the Senate on May 9, 1826, and received commission that same day. He served until his death on August 25, 1828.[1] He was succeeded to this post by John McLean.

District of Kentucky

Trimble was previously a federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of Kentucky. He was nominated by President James Madison on January 28, 1817 to fill a seat vacated by Harry Innes. He was confirmed by the Senate on January 31, 1817, and received commission that same day. He served in this position until May 9, 1826.[1] He was succeeded to this post by John Boyle.
