Robert Vining

Robert L. Vining, Jr. is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. He joined the court in 1979 after being nominated by President Jimmy Carter. Vining is a judge serving on senior status. [1]Education
Vining graduated from Georgia with his Bachelor's degree in 1959 and later graduated from Georgia Law with his J.D. degree in 1959 and also served as a U.S. Air Force Sergeant from 1951 to 1959[1].
Legal career
Vining became a private practice attorney licensed in the State of Georgia from 1958 to 1969 and also became a Solicitor general for the Conasauga Judicial Circuit from 1963 to 1968 before becoming a Superior court judge in the Conasauga Judicial Circuit from 1969 to 1979[1].
Federal judicial career
Vining was nominated by Jimmy Carter on June 14, 1979, to a new seat created by 92 Stat. 1629 which was approved by Congress. Vining was confirmed by the US Senate on July 23, 1979 on a Senate vote and received commission on July 24, 1979. Vining served as the chief judge for the Northern District of Georgia from 1995 to 1996 before later assuming senior status on March 31, 1996[1].
