Roger Burdick

Roger Burdick is one of five justices currently serving on the Idaho Supreme Court. His tenure on the court began in August, 2003, when he was appointed to be the fifty-third Justice of the Court by Governor Dirk Kempthorne, a Republican. He was retained by voters in 2004 and his current term expires in January of 2011.[1][2]

Legal education and experience

Justice Burdick received his B.S. degree in Finance from the University of Colorado in 1970 and a J.D. degree from the University of Idaho School of Law in 1974. Before law school, he worked as a bank examiner from 1970 to 1971. He began his legal career in 1974, working with the law firm Webb, Pike, Burton & Carlson. After this, he worked as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney in Ada County. From 1976 to 1980, he worked as a partner with the firm Hart and Burdick and also as a Public Defender in Camas, Lincoln, Jerome and Gooding Counties. He was elected Jerome County Prosecuting Attorney in November of 1980 and then Jerome County Magistrate Judge in September of 1981. He was appointed a Twin Falls County District Judge in September of 1993. In January of 2001, he was appointed Administrative Judge of the 5th Judicial District. He held this position until his appointment to the Supreme Court in 2003.[1]
