Roger L. Hunt is an Article III federal judge serving on senior status for the United States District Court for the District of Nevada. He joined the court in 2000 after being nominated by President Bill Clinton. Hunt was the Chief Judge of the Court serving as the court's lead judicial administrative officer in conjunction with the clerk of court in the day to day operations of the court from 2007-2011 when he assumed senior status.
Early life and education
A native of Nevada, Hunt graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT with his Bachelor's Degree in 1966 and later graduated from George Washington University Law School with his Juris Doctorate Degree in 1970.
Professional career
Clark began his legal career as a deputy district attorney in the Clark County District Attorney's Office from 1970 to 1971 before spending the rest of his pre-judicial legal career as a private practice attorney licensed in the State of Nevada from 1971 to 1992.
Judicial career

Hunt began his Federal judicial career in 1992 and was appointed to a full eight year term as a federal magistrate judge in the United States District Court for the District of Nevada. Hunt served his full eight year term before being elevated in the ranks of the Federal Judiciary in the year 2000.
On the recommendation of Nevada U.S. Senators Harry Reid and Richard Bryan Hunt was nominated by President Bill Clinton on March 27, 2000 to a new seat created by 113 Stat. 1501 which was approved by Congress. Hunt was confirmed by the Senate on May 24, 2000 on a majority voice vote and received commission on May 25, 2000[1]. He assumed senior status on May 26, 2011. Hunt was succeeded in this position by Miranda Du.
