Roger Strand is a federal judge for the United States District Court for the District of Arizona. He joined the court in 1985 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan. Strand is a judge serving on senior status.[1]

Early life and education

A native of New York state, Strand graduated from Hamilton College with his Bachelor's Degree in 1955 and later graduated from Cornell Law School with his Law Degree in 1961 and also had continuing education in the National College of State Trial Judges in 1968. Strand also served in the US Navy from 1955 to 1961 as a active duty Lieutenant from 1955 to 1958 and as a Reserve Lieutenant from 1958 to 1961.

Professional career

Strand was a private practice attorney licensed in the State of Arizona from 1961 to 1967 before serving as a judge in the Superior Court of Arizona from 1967 to 1985.

Judicial career

On the recommendation of U.S. Senator Barry Goldwater, Strand was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on June 25, 1985 to a seat vacated by Charles Muecke as Muecke assumed senior status. Strand was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on July 19, 1985 on a Senate vote and received commission on July 22, 1985. Broomfield later assumed senior status on April 28, 2000.
