Ron Clark is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. He joined the court in 2002 after being nominated by President George W. Bush. [1]
Early life and education
Born in Venzeula, and later becoming an American citizen, Clark graduated from the University of Connecticut in Stoors, CT with his Bachelor's Degree in 1973 and with his Master's Degree in 1974. Clark later graduated with his Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1979. Clark served two years in the US Army on Active Duty from 1974 to 1976 and served in the Army Reserve from 1980 till 1990.[1]
Professional career
Clark first started his legal career as a Assistant city attorney for the City of Abilene from 1979 to 1982 before spending twenty years as a Private practice attorney licensed in the State of Texas from 1982 to 2002. Clark also served as a State representative in the Texas State Legislature from 1997 to 2002 as a elected Republican member of the Texas State House of Representatives.[1]
Judicial career
Eastern District of Texas
On the unanimous recommendation of Texas U.S. Senators Kay Bailey-Hutchinson and Phil Gramm, Clark was nominated by President George W. Bush on January 23, 2002, to a seat vacated by Howell Cobb as Cobb assumed senior status. Clark was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 2, 2002 on a senate vote and received commission on October 10, 2002.[1]
