Sally Adkins

Sally D. Adkins is an associate justice of the Maryland Court of Appeals, which is Maryland's highest court. She was appointed to the court on May 27, 2008 by Martin O'Malley, a Democrat,[1] and took office on June 25, 2008.[2] Her current term expires in 2010.[3]
Biography
Justice Adkins was born on January 21, 1950 in Salisbury, Maryland. She received her B.A. in Philosophy from Lawrence University in 1972 and her J.D. degree from the University of Maryland in 1975.[2]
Legal career
Justice Adkins began her legal career in 1975 as a law clerk to Judge Marvin Smith of the Court of Appeals. In 1976, she joined the law firm Adkins, Potts & Smethurst. She became a partner of this firm in 1982. In 1995 and 1996, she was a partner of Adkins & Allen, L.L.P. She then joined the Wicomico County Circuit Court as an associate judge on August 23, 1996. On June 24, 1998, she joined the Court of Special Appeals, where she served for 10 years before joining the Court of Appeals.[2]
