Salmon Portland Chase

Salmon Portland Chase (1808-1873) was a Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States.
He was nominated by President Abraham Lincoln on December 6, 1864. He was confirmed by the Senate and received commission that same day. He served until his death on May 7, 1873.
