Samuel Alba

Samuel Alba is a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the District of Utah. He has served in this position since August of 1992. From 2003 to 2008, he was the Chief Magistrate Judge.[1]
Biography and Education
Judge Alba received his law degree from Utah State University in 1969.[2] He is currently married and has four children.[1]
Career
Judge Alba worked in the Arizona Federal Public Defenders’ office from 1972 to 1977. He then worked with a personal injury and criminal defense firm in Phoenix until 1980, when he joined the United States Attorney’s office. He worked in this office as a first assistant and the chief of criminal section until 1987. He then became a shareholder in the firm Prince, Yeates, Geldzahler, where he practiced law until he was appointed to the District of Utah in 1992.[1]
