Sara Lynn Darrow is a judge on the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois. She was nominated on November 17, 2010 by Barack Obama and confirmed by the United States Senate in August 2011. [1][2]
Early life and education
Darrow received a B.A. from Marquette University in 1992[2] and a juris doctorate degree from Saint Louis University School of Law in 1997.[3][2]
Professional career
Before her appointment in 2011, Darrow was an Assistant United States Attorney for the Central District of Illinois since 2003. [1][2]
Judicial career
Central District of Illinois
On November 17, 2010 President Obama nominated Darrow to the seat on the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois vacated by Joe McDade. [3] President Obama had this to say about the nominations made on November 17, 2010: "I am pleased to nominate these distinguished individuals to serve on the United States District Court bench.I am confident they will serve the American people with integrity and a steadfast commitment to justice." [4]
Darrow received a unanimous rating of "Qualified" from the American Bar Association. She had a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee on April 13, 2011 and you can find her Committee Questionnaire Available Here and her Questions for the Record Available Here.[5]
Darrow's nomination was returned to the President at the end of the 111th congress. President Obama resubmitted the nomination on January 5, 2011. Darrow was confirmed to her post by a Senate voice vote on August 2, 2011.[6]
