Education
Farkas received her B.A. degree from Niagara University in 1972, her M.A. degree from the University of Hawaii and her J.D. degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law in 1983.[1]
Legal career
Farkas began her career in 1983 as an Assistant District Attorney in Niagara County. She worked in that position until 1992 and also taught as an adjunct instructor at Canisius College from 1989 to 1998. From 1996 to 1997, she was the town prosecutor of Wheatfield, NY. She then served as a justice of the Wheatfield Town Court and as a court attorney for the Niagara County Family Court from 1998 to 2000. In 2000, she became a multi-bench judge of the County and Surrogate's courts of Niagara County. She was also appointed an Acting Supreme Court Justice in 2004. From 2005 to 2008, she was the Presiding Justice of the Niagara County Integrated Domestic Violence Court. Since 2007, she has been the Supervising Judge of the 8th Judicial District's Town and Village Courts.[1]
