Sarah W. Hays is a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri. She was appointed to this position in 1992.[1]

Early life and education

Judge Hays was born in 1953, in Salina, KS. She earned her bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge in 1975. In 1977, she received her J.D. from the same school.[1]

Judge Hays was the presiding over the appearance of Rick P. Hihath and Cris E. Bottcher of which on July 10, 2009 was released $10,000 bond[2]. The two men were are part of a twenty six person group who are charged for their involvement in a multi-state dog-fighting ring. In administering the bail requirements, Judge Hays also ordered that both men have no contact with dogs and refrain from gambling. [2]
