W. Scott Gwin is a judge on the Ohio Fifth District Court of Appeals. He was elected to this position in 1988 and was re-elected to 6-year terms in 1994, 2000, 2006 and 2012. His current term ends on February 9, 2019.[1][2]
Education
Judge Gwin received a degree in political science from John Carroll University in 1973 and a J.D. degree from Akron University School of Law in 1976. He is now married and has two children.[1]
Legal career
Judge Gwin began his legal career as a private practice lawyer in 1976. He practiced in the areas of litigation in criminal felony and misdemeanor cases, personal injury work, domestic relations and probate law until 1984. From 1976 to 1985, he also worked as an Ohio Assistant Attorney General with the Ohio Department of Transportation. He then worked as the Law Director for the City of Canton until 1988, when he was elected to the Court of Appeals. He served as Presiding Judge of this court in 1993, 1995, 2000, 2003, 2006 and 2007 and he was the Administrative Judge in 1993 and 1999.[1]

Gwin was re-elected after running unopposed on November 6, 2012. [3][4]
