Sharon G. Lee (b. December 8, 1953) is a justice on the Tennessee Supreme Court. Justice Lee is a Democrat. She was appointed to the Tennessee Court of Appeals on June 4, 2004 and elected to that position in August of 2004. In October of 2008, Justice Lee was appointed to the Tennessee Supreme Court and she was sworn in by Governor Bredesen on March 20, 2009. [1] [2]
Justice Lee is one of four justices on the five-justice court appointed by Democratic governor Phil Bredesen. She will face a retention election in November 2010 for a full eight-year term on the court.
Legal education
A native of Knoxville, Justice Lee graduated from the University of Tennessee with a B.S. in Business Administration with high honors. Justice Lee earned her J.D. from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1978. [1]
Legal experience
Justice Lee was in private practice from 1978 to 2004. She has served as county attorney for Monroe County, has been a Madisonville city judge, a city attorney for Vonore and Madisonville, and was appointed to the Tennessee Court of Appeals. Justice Sharon Lee was appointed to the Tennessee Supreme Court in October 2008. [1]
