Stephanie Seymour is a Federal Appeals Judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Seymour is a Judge serving on senior status.

Early life and education

Born in Battle Creek, Michigan, Seymour graduated from Smith College with her Bachelor's Degree in 1962 and received a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School in 1965[1].

Legal career

Seymour was a private practice attorney in Massachusetts from 1965 to 1966, in Oklahoma from 1966 to 1967, and also in Texas from 1968 to 1969. Seymour returned to private practice in Oklahoma from 1971 to 1979.[1]

Federal judicial career

Seymour was nominated to the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit by President Jimmy Carter on August 28, 1979 to a new seat created by 92 Stat. 1629, which was approved by Congress. Seymour was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 31, 1979 and received commission on November 2, 1979. Seymour served as the Chief Judge of the Court from 1994 to 2000 before assuming senior status on October 16, 2005.[1]
