Stephen Nathaniel Limbaugh, Sr. was an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri. He joined the court in 1983 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan. He retired on July 31, 2008.

Early life and education

Limbaugh served in the US Navy from 1946 to 1948 then graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with his Bachelor's Degree in 1950 and later graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law with his juris doctoral degree in 1951. [1]

Legal career

Limnaugh spent his entire pre-judicial legal career as a practicing attorney in Missouri serving over thirty years in Private practice from 1951 to 1983. In addition to being a private practice, Limbaugh served as a Prosecuting attorney in Cape Girardeau County from 1955 to 1958 and was a part-time City attorney for the city of Cape Girardeu from 1964 to 1968. Federal judicial career

On the recommendation of Senator John Danforth, Limbaugh, Sr. was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on June 7, 1983 for both the Eastern and Western Districts of Missouri to a seat vacated by Kenneth Wangelin. Limbaugh was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on July 18, 1983, and received commission on July 19, 1983. Assumed senior status on May 1, 1996. Retired on July 31, 2008. [1]
