Halil Ozerden

Halil Suleyman Ozerden is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi. He joined the court in 2007 after being nominated by President George W. Bush.
Education
Ozerden graduated from Georgetown with his Bachelor's Degree in 1989 and later graduated from Stanford Law with his Juris Doctor degree in 1998. Ozerden also served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1985 to 1995. [1]
Legal career
Ozerden began his legal career as a law clerk for Federal District judge Eldon Fallon for the Eastern District of Louisiana from 1998 to 1999 and also served as a private practice attorney licensed in Mississippi from 1999 to 2007.[1]
Federal judicial career
On the recommendation of U.S. Senators Thad Cochran and Trent Lott, Ozerden was nominated by President George W. Bush on January 9, 2007, to a seat vacated by David Bramlette. Ozerden was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on April 24, 2007 on a 95-0-5 vote and received commission on May 1, 2007.[1][2]
