Terence Thomas Evans (1940-2011) was a federal appeals judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. He joined the court in 1995 after being nominated by President Bill Clinton and served the court until his death on August 10, 2011. [1][2]

Early life and education

A native of Milwaukee, Evans graduated from Marquette with his Bachelor's Degree in 1962 and later graduated from Marquette Law with his Juris Doctor Degree in 1967. [3]

Eastern District of Wisconsin

On the recommendation of U.S. Senator William Proxmire, Evans was nominated by President Jimmy Carter on July 21, 1979 to a new seat created by 92 Stat. 1629 which was approved by Congress. Evans was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 31, 1979 on a senate vote and received commission on November 2, 1979. Evans served as the chief judge of the court from 1991 to 1995 before leaving the Eastern District of Wisconsin on August 11, 1995, due to his appointment to the Seventh Circuit. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals

On the unanimous recommendation of U.S. Senators Herb Kohl and Russ Feingold, Evans was nominated by President Bill Clinton on April 25, 1995, to a seat vacated by Richard Cudahy as Cudahy assumed senior status. Evans was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on August 11, 1995 on a majority voice vote and received commission on August 11, 1995[4].
