Thane Bobbitt Covert is a judge of the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. He was appointed to this position by then-Governor Jeb Bush on December 16, 2005 (effective January 3). His current term expires on January 5, 2015, but he is eligible to run for re-election on November 4, 2014.[1][2][3]

Education

Covert received his B.A. degree from Eckerd College and his J.D. degree from Stetson University College of Law. Prior to his legal career, he worked for the Clearwater and Treasure Island police departments. He was admitted to the Bar in 1987.[4]

Legal career

Covert began his career as a clerk for the State Attorney's Office during law school. In 1987, following his graduation, he began working full-time at that office. He continued to work as a prosecutor there until he joined the Circuit Court in January of 2007.[1]
