Raleigh, North Carolina: Cressie Thigpen was reappointed to the North Carolina Court of Appeals by Gov. Perdue on January 3, 2011. Thigpen has served on this court since he was appointed to fill a vacancy in August of 2010. He ran for re-election to an 8 year term in November of that year, but lost to challenger Doug McCullough. However, Gov. Perdue has appointed Thigpen to a new vacancy, created by Judge Barbara Jackson's election to the North Carolina Supreme Court this year. Thigpen's new term will expire at the end of 2012.[1]
