Thomas Austin Ballantine, Jr. (1926-1992) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Western District of Kentucky.

Ballantine was nominated to the Western District of Kentucky by President Jimmy Carter on September 27, 1977, to a seat vacated by Clifton Bratcher; he was confirmed by the Senate on October 12, 1977, and received commission that same day. From 1990-1991, he served as the chief judge. He assumed senior status on November 26, 1991. He served the Western District of Kentucky until his death on February 18, 1992. [1]
