Thomas John Curran is an Article III federal judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. He joined the court in 1983 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan. He assumed senior status on January 1, 1997. [1]
Early life and education
Curran graduated from Marquette with his Bachelor's degree in 1945 and later graduated from Marquette Law with his Juris Doctor degree in 1948 and also served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946[1].
Professional career
Curran spent his entire pre-judicial legal career as a private practice attorney licensed in Wisconsin from 1948 to 1983 [1].
Judicial career
Eastern District of Wisconsin
On the recommendation of U.S. Senator Bob Kasten, Curran was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on September 20, 1983 to a seat vacated by Myron Gordon as Gordon assumed senior status. Curran was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on November 4, 1983 and received commission on November 7, 1983. Curran later assumed senior status on January 1, 1997[1]. Curran was succeeded in this position by Lynn Adelman.
