Thomas G. Nelson is a former federal appeals judge with the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit based in San Francisco. He joined the court in 1990 after being nominated by President George H.W. Bush. Nelson passed away on May 4, 2011, while serving on senior status.[1]
Education
Nelson graduated from Idaho Law with his Law degree in 1962 and also served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1965 to 1968.[2]
Legal career
Nelson began his career as a Assistant state attorney general and chief deputy state attorney general for the Idaho Attorney General's Office from 1963 to 1965 and also served as a Private practice in the State of Idaho from 1965 to 1990.[2]
Federal judicial career
Nelson was nominate by President George Bush on July 18, 1990 to a seat vacated by J. Blaine Anderson. Nelson was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 12, 1990 on unanimous consent of the Senate and received commission on October 17, 1990[3]. Assumed senior status on November 14, 2003.[2]
