Early life and education
A native of Utah, Greene graduated from the University of Utah with both his Bachelor's Degree in 1952 and his juris doctorate degree in 1955[1].
Professional Legal Career
Greene spent his entire pre-judicial legal career as a private practice attorney in the State of Utah from 1955 to 1985 when he was appointed to the Federal Bench. In addition to his private practice work, Greene was a part-time Assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Utah from 1957 to 1959 and also served as an Utah Special assistant state attorney general from 1960 to 1965. Green was also the Chairman Utah State Building Authority in 1980, and a member of the Utah Board of Higher Education from 1983 to 1986[1].
Federal judicial career
On the recommendation of Utah U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch, Greene was nominated by President Ronald Reagan on March 7, 1985 to a new seat created by 98 Stat. 333. Greene was confirmed by the Senate on April 3, 1985 and received commission on April 4, 1985. Greene later assumed senior status on November 28, 1997.
