Thomas J. Motley is an associate judge for the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. He was appointed to the court by President Bill Clinton in 2000.[1]


Motley received his undergraduate degree from Columbia College in 1976 and his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1979.[1]


Motley began his legal career in private practice. Next, he joined the United States Attorney's Office, serving for fifteen years. In 1998, Motley was appointed Principal Assistant United States Attorney.[1]
