Thomas Nave appointed Juneau District Court judge
Juneau, Alaska: Longtime Juneau attorney Thomas Nave has been appointed to a judgeship in the Juneau District Court (Alaska First District). After working as a lawyer for 34 years, he was appointed to this judgeship by Gov. Parnell on September 24, 2010. Of the new job, Nave said, "I'm absolutely thrilled. It's going to be different having spent the last 34 years representing people."Nave began his legal career as a private practice lawyer. He then served in the public defenders' office as a trial lawyer and deputy director before forming the Gullufsen and Nave law practice.
Regarding his goals as judge, Nave said, "...it is not so much my goal to be outstanding as it is to just do a very good job. And to give both sides of any conflict an equal airing.. not because I can but because that is my natural inclination and I think it is a very necessary part of it. The ability to listen and not treat it as a cookie cutter sort of process, giving every individual his day in court is very important to me."
