Thomas Shanahan was a Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the District of Nebraska. He joined the court in 1993 after being nominated by President Bill Clinton. Shanahan assumed senior status on May 5, 2004 and served until his death at the age of 77 on December 27, 2011.[1]
Early life and education
Shanahan graduated from Notre Dame with his Bachelor's degree in 1956 and later graduated from Georgetown Law with his Bachelor of Laws degree in 1959[1].
Professional career
Shanahan was a private practice attorney in Nebraska from 1959 to 1983 and was a nominated by the Nebraska Judicial Qualifications Commission to the Nebraska Supreme Court in 1983 and served in that role until 1993[1].

Shanahan was nominated by President Bill Clinton on August 6, 1993, to a new seat created by 104 Stat. 5089; Confirmed by the Senate on November 20, 1993, and received commission on November 22, 1993 before later assuming senior status on May 5, 2004. Shanahan served until his death at the age of 77 on December 27, 2011.[1]
