United States Circuit Court for the Southern District of California

The United States Circuit Court for the Southern District of California was established on March 3, 1863, and abolished on July 27, 1866. From that time until August 5, 1886, California was united under one district with one corresponding circuit. On August 5, 1886, California was again divided into Northern and Southern Districts, with their corresponding circuit courts. The Circuit Court for the Northern District of California was permanently abolished on March 3, 1911, when the entire circuit court system was abolished[1].
