The U.S. District Court for the District of Indiana was established in 1817, 3 months after Indiana was admitted to the union[1]. It was dissolved in 1928 by 45 Stat. 437, which divided Indiana into Northern and Southern Districts, which it retains at the present time. Appeals from the District of Indiana were appealed to the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals based in Downtown Chicago at the Everett M. Dirksen Federal Courthouse and Building.
