Vermont's First Environmental Judge to Retire
The Vermont Superior Courts, Environmental Division deals with the appeals of decisions regarding the issue of state land-use permits, municipal land-use zoning, as well as the Agency of Natural Resources. As the judge of this court, Wright helped to establish good court procedures and practices, with her decisions helping to evolve and shape the environmental law in Vermont.
Wright was first appointed to her position by Governor Madeleine Kunin in 1990 when the environmental court was made realized. Wright is now retiring so that she may be able to spend more time doing some academic writing and teaching, as well as making an "International Judicial Institute for Environmental Adjudication."
