Walker David Miller is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the District of Colorado. He joined the court in 1996 after being nominated by President Bill Clinton. Miller is serving on senior status.
Early life and education
Miller graduated from the University of Colorado School of Law in Boulder with his Bachelors of Law Degree in 1963 and later graduated from the University of Chicago Law School with his Master of Laws degree in 1965. [1]
Professional career
After law school, Miller spent the majority of his pre-judicial legal career in Private practice in the State of Colorado from 1965 to 1966 and 1969 to 1996. For three years from 1966 to 1969, Miller was a full-time Assistant professor of law for the University of Kansas School of Law in Lawrence, KS. [1]
Judicial career
District of Colorado
On the recommendation of Colorado US Congressman Pat Schroeder, Miller was nominated by President Bill Clinton on on April 18, 1996, to a seat vacated by James Carrigan as Carrignan retired from Judicial Service. Miller was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on July 11, 1996 on a majority voice vote and received commission on July 25, 1996 before later assuming senior status on April 1, 2008[2]. Miller was succeeded in this position by Christine Arguello.
