Warren John Ferguson (1920-2008) was a federal appeals judge with the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit based in San Francisco. He joined the court in 1979 after being nominated by President Jimmy Carter, and served it until his death on June 25, 2008.
Early life and education
Ferguson graduated from University of Nevada, Reno with his Bachelor's degree in 1942 and later graduated from University of Southern California Law School with his LL.B. in 1949. He also served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. [1]

Judicial career
Central District of California
Ferguson was nominated to the Central District of California by President Lyndon B. Johnson on September 26, 1966 to a new seat created by 80 Stat. 75 which was approved by Congress. Ferguson was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 20, 1966 on a senate vote and received commission on November 3, 1966. Ferguson left the Central District of California on December 20, 1979 due to his appointment to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. [1] Ferguson was succeeded in this position by Wallace Tashima.
Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals
Ferguson was nominated to the Ninth Circuit by President Jimmy Carter on September 28, 1979 to a new seat created by 92 Stat. 1629 which was approved by Congress. Ferguson was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on November 26, 1979 on a Senate vote and received commission on November 27, 1979. Ferguson assumed senior status on July 31, 1986 before his death on June 25, 2008. [1]
