Xavier Rodriguez is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas. He joined the court in 2003 after being nominated by President George W. Bush. [1]
Early life and education
Born in San Antonio, Texas, Rodriguez graduated from Harvard University with his Bachelor's Degree in 1983 and received his J.D. degree from the University of Texas School of Law in 1987. Rodriguez earned a Master's of Public Affairs degree from the Texas LBJ School of Public Affairs in 1987. Rodriguez served in the United States Army Reserves from 1983 to 1993.[1]
Professional career
Rodriguez was a private practice attorney in Texas from 1987 to 2002 and again from 2002 to 2003. Rodriguez was appointed by Texas Governor Rick Perry to Justice of the Texas Supreme Court from 2001 to 2002 before being nominated to the Federal Bench.[1]

Rodriguez on the recommendation of Texas U.S. Senators Kay Bailey-Hutchinson and John Cornyn, Rodriguez was nominated to the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas by PresidentGeorge W. Bush on May 1, 2003 to a seat vacated by Edward Prado. Rodriguez was confirmed by the Senate on July 31, 2003 on an unanimous vote and received commission on August 1, 2003.[2]
