Yvette Kane (b. 1953) is a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. She joined the court in 1998 after being nominated by President Bill Clinton.

Early life and education

Born in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, Kane graduated from Nicholls State University with her Bachelor's Degree in 1973 and later from the Tulane Law School with her Juris Doctor degree in 1976. [1]

Professional career

Kane was a Trial Attorney for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission from 1977 to 1978 before becoming an Assistant State Attorney General for the Colorado State Attorney General's Office from 1978 to 1980. Kane was a Deputy District Attorney for Denver County, Colorado District Attorney's Office from 1980 to 1986. From 1986 to 1991, Kane was a Commonwealth Deputy Attorney General in the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office. Kane was Chief Counsel for the Pennsylvania Independent Regulatory Review Commission until 1993. In 1995, the People of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania elected Kane to serve as its Secretary. [1]

Judicial career

Middle District of Pennsylvania

Kane was nominated to the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania by President Bill Clinton on June 4, 1998 to a seat vacated by Edwin Kosik as Kosik assumed senior status. Kane was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on October 21, 1998 and received commission on October 22, 1998. Kane has served as the court's Chief Judge since 2006. [2]
