Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers is a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. Rogers joined the court in 2011 after a nomination from Barack Obama. Prior to nomination, Rogers was a judge for the Superior Court of Alameda County in California. She won re-election unopposed in 2010.[1][2]

Early life and education

Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers received a bachelors from Princeton University in 1987 and a J.D. from the University of of Texas School of Law in 1991.[3]

Northern District of California

On May 4, 2011 Obama nominated Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers to the United States District Court for the Northern District of California to a seat vacated by Vaughn Walker.[2][4] Obama told the press, "These individuals have demonstrated the talent, expertise, and fair-mindedness Americans expect and deserve from their judicial system. I am grateful for their willingness to serve and confident that they will apply the law with the utmost impartiality and integrity." [3] Rogers was rated Unanimously Qualified by the American Bar Association.

Rogers was confirmed by a senate vote of 89-6 on November 15, 2011.[6]
