Douglas S. Lavine is a judge of the Connecticut Appellate Court. He was appointed by Governor Rell in February of 2006[1] and took office on March 15, 2006. His current eight-year term will expire on March 14, 2014.[2][3]
Education
Douglas Lavine graduated from Colgate University in 1972 with a degree in history. He then received a master's degree in journalism from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. In 1977, he earned his law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law and went on to receive his master's degree (LL.M.) from Columbia Law School in 1981. He worked as a newspaper reporter and editor prior to his legal career. [1]
Legal career
Douglas Lavine began his legal career in 1981 working in the litigation department of the law firm Shipman & Goodwin. In 1986, he became an Assistant United States Attorney. He worked in this position until 1993, when Governor Weicker appointed him to the Superior Court. He was reappointed by Governor Rowland in 2001 and elevated to the Court of Appeals in 2006.[1]
